G Hunter & Co Pty Limited is a well known long established family owned and operated real estate agency located in the NSW country town of Parkes.

We have built our long-standing reputation on good old-fashioned honest service. This is our tradition at G Hunter & Co Pty Limited.

A key factor to our success is friendly service with local knowledge and many years experience providing the Parkes community with real estate services. This includes all areas of sales, valuations and property management.

G Hunter & Co Pty Limited and staff are members of the Real Estate Institute of NSW and governed by their code of ethics. When you engage our services you know that our services will be professional in every aspect - we maintain a high standard of ethics, integrity and business practice.

Gordon Hunter and his wife Connie founded the firm in 1932. In 2007 G Hunter & Co Pty Limited celebrated 75 years in business. They are proud to be an integral part of the history of Parkes by being the second oldest family owned and operated business still operating in the town. This is quite an accomplishment in today's business climate.

Gordon's son Jim joined the firm at age 14 in 1953. His father taught him the ropes of real estate, rural sales and valuation. Gordon became the rural expert and Jim the residential salesman. Jim also set about securing clients to increase their rent collection activities. Gordon was not keen to enhance this area, but Jim persisted resulting in the growth of the rent roll.

In 1971 Gordon passed away suddenly and Terry, his youngest son, came to join the firm. Terry's degree in Agriculture gave him a sound understanding and rapport with the local farmers. He completed his real estate licensing course and became more involved in the residential sales and auctioneering side of the business.

The family connection continued in 1986 when Donna, Jim's daughter, became the third generation of Hunters to join the firm. She took up the roles of property manager/book keeper and introduced a computerised property management accounting system.

Jim, Terry and Donna have seen many changes in the real estate industry, and indeed their own local market, over the years.

The Parkes area has always been a strong farming sector and the prime focus of the business in the early days was stock and station, rural sales and auctioneering. As the area started to diversify and the population expanded, residential and land sales became an important factor for growth of the business. The rent roll expanded and the direction and needs of the business were changing.

From the one-man business in 1932, where Gordon relied on his note book for record keeping and deals were sealed with a hand shake and the strength of a person's word, to an industry of today where record management and computer technology are essential for every real estate agency.

From Jim walking to every property in 1955 to collect tenant's rent, to today where tenants are able to pay their rent over the internet.

Through changes in property price, market trends, customer expectations and industry regulations, one thing has remained constant at G Hunter & Co Pty Limited - their commitment to service to the community, honesty and a high degree of ethics, integrity and professional practice.

On 31 October 2002, G Hunter & Co Pty Limited celebrated their 70th year in business by conducting a mini real estate trade fair and charity auction. The event was so successful they raised $12,580 which was donated to Careflight.

With the continued support of their staff and the local community, G Hunter & Co Pty Limited look forward to the future and another 70 years in business.
